MōDALA Thangka

Focusing on the natural beauty of raw hemp, MōDALA Thangka combines Nepalese spiritualism with creative expression to offer multi-layered design connotations that inspire self-awareness and deep thought.

MōDALA Thangka is inspired by Buddhist iconography and is eponymous of Thangka art known as ‘roadmaps to enlightenment’ in spiritual storytelling in Nepal. Like Thangka art, MōDALA Thangka has many moving parts and interchangeable structures, with fringes that depict rough brush strokes found at the edges of the artform.

Handcrafted by skilled artisans in Nepal, MōDALA Thangka is first woven as a full rug and is then cut and bound into individual pieces. This is done to dramatically cut down on waste.
