Tibetan Wool
Tibetan wool is found 14,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayas and natural highlands. Farmed by Nepalese and Tibetan nomadic communities, the wool is from Changpel sheep, which grow long, tensile strong fibres with lots of lanolin. Lanolin is a waxy substance that is naturally produced by sheep to protect them from the subzero temperatures of their natural environment. It covers the fibres from root to tip and is moisturising to both the wool and skin of the animal. Lanolin, alongside covetable fibre properties, is what gives Himalayan sheep’ wool its reputation for being one of the softest, most durable and luxurious wool on the planet. See ourTibetan wool rug collections.
Yak Hair
Yak hair is a luxurious and superfine fibre that originates from the kept yaks of nomadic communities in the Himalayan highlands. As soft and as warm as cashmere, yak hair is lanolin rich with a long staple length and has been hailed as a more sustainable alternative to cashmere. Yak hair cannot be dyed however its naturally occurring shades have a beautiful depth and earthly wonder to them. See our Wild Luxury Collection.
Hemp
Hemp is the durable fibre that not only creates long lasting, beautiful rugs and furnishings, it’s also renewable and grows naturally in the mild and humid Nepalese highlands. Hemp is a self-sustaining weed that does not require arable land to grow, making it an invaluable resource to remote Nepalese communities who need their land for food cultivation. See our hempMōDALA Thangkamodular rug.
Brass
Our brassware is made from natural, unoxidized brass from the artisan town on Bhaktapur. Over time our brass pieces develop to create a unique gradient of bright and natural shades. See our brassware homeware collection.
Bamboo Silk
With the same exquisite finish as traditional silk, bamboo silk is 100% renewable and is considered a luxurious alternative to traditional silks made from silkworms. Made from the stalks of bamboo, bamboo silk is durable, cool to the touch and can be easily blended with other fibres.
